Zirrar is a writer based in London, who has spent the past decade travelling the Near and Middle East from North Africa, Egypt, Sham, Hejaz to the lands of Khorasan. His work attempts to revive and invigorate a vision of Islamic cultural and identity revivalism, where the might and beauty of Islam can be re-discovered and shared across a new generation. He is also an active writer, essayist and researcher in the fields of Islamic History, Art and Architecture as well as culture-critic in the fields of Orientalism, especially in modern travel photography and literature.
Zirrar is also the author of several books, including ‘Ghazi and the Garden’, a modern English translation of the poetry of Muhammad Iqbal, as well as ‘Finding Him’ – a photographic journey through the Muslim world. He is currently working on a project to bring a revised history of Andalusia based on primary Arab and Muslim sources.
